How Rare are Pink Emeralds?

Pink Emeralds are very scarce and are seldom offered for sale to the general public. They are usually found in the private gem collections of jewelers, gemstone dealers and international gemstone connoisseurs. These delicate, precious gifts of nature are 2500 times rarer than green emeralds, 4000 times rarer than rubies and sapphires and approximately 12,000 times rarer than diamonds.

Actually, if you think about it, diamonds aren't really rare. There is a good chance every family in America probably has someone related that owns at least one diamond or probably even more that one. When you consider there are over 76 million families in America, that is a very large boat load of diamonds to try and float down the river of obscurity. In spite of huge supply, diamond prices remain artificially high because of the diamond monopoly created by the DeBeers Group, the world famous South African diamond cartel that has been in the news as of late because they are said to be losing control of their diamond marketing consortium and hence their monopoly.

There is probably only one (1) Pink Emerald faceted on the planet for every 75,000 diamonds that have been faceted. Because of this extreme rarity factor, Pink Emeralds enjoy a natural monopoly which should be sure to keep the price in an upwards direction for many generations to come. The greatest single fact that contributes to the rarity of Pink Emeralds is, there are no working mines anywhere on earth that are currently producing Pink Emeralds.
